Fashion Designers Fall in Love with the Color Blue

The recent slate of spring 2017 runway shows reinforces the fashion industry’s love affair with blue! Couture designers from New York City to Milan to Paris all showed a considerable number of azure frocks, so the spring season is definitely shaping up to be one rich in royal blue. Here are three couture designers whose inventories you can tap into for a cerulean fix.

Marc Jacobs

The New Yorker’s spring 2017 collection was chock full of sapphire-color sequins, army jackets, tube socks, and metallic lamé, but in between that circus of style were a few calmer pockets of Pantone shade Lapis blue.

Roland Mouret

Ribbons, lace insets, and royal blue were common themes in the latest offerings of the Galaxy dress creator, whose affinity for lapis also gave way to other lighter and darker sapphire blue hues.

French fashion designer Thierry Mugler was oddly obsessed with sharks for spring, but at least that muse gave him a clear path to the use of blue. The color arose in neoprene miniskirts and blueberry piping that ran down pant legs, all of which will coordinate perfectly with your favorite sapphire jewel.
